The Chemical Engineering Division's Rex E. Gerald II has been recognized for his technical achievements by the Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Award Corporation (HENAAC). The Outstanding Technical Achievement Award is awarded for a significant contribution to science, engineering or technology by the design, development, or management of a product, service, system or intellectual property. Criteria include the uniqueness of the research, degree of impact the research has on humankind, and patents or published works,
as well as potential as a role model and involvement with the Hispanic
community. The focus of the Outstanding Technical Achievement Award was
Gerald's work on the
Argonne Coin Cell NMR/MRI Imager, a first-of-its kind device that lets
researchers "see" what's happening in a battery cell in real time during
